Reviewer: Roger Newell
This is the third book taking a detailed look at the recordings of
the Shadows and covers the last phase of the band before their demise. As before it offers
loads of info on all aspects of their recordings released here in the UK and abroad. Everything
you are ever likely to be curious about is covered here, from where and when recordings were
released, to who wrote them and who played on the sessions. So the formula is similar to
Malcolm's earlier books A Guide To The Shadows And Hank Marvin On CD and The Shadows
At EMI but where this volume scores over the others is in the generous use of pictures. The
difference this makes cannot be overstated for anything so statistically complex as this
undoubtedly is, needs all the help it can to keep it user friendly. It's been a labour of love
and a fantastic achievement and is thoroughly recommended. If you have problems in finding a
copy contact Leo's Den or Pearman Books on the Internet.
